Club Competition
Rules
1.
Only Alresford Camera Club Members may submit entries.
2.
Entries are limited to a maximum of three per member per section
in any competition, one of which may have been entered in an earlier
competition. No one print or transparency may be entered more than
twice per season, or re-entered having won a competition, excluding
the Best of the Best annual competition.
3.
The committee may at its discretion, periodically set certain subjects
or other requirements as a means of stimulating interest. Any such
requirements will be published/announced to members in good time.
4.
All entries must bear the member’s name and title.
5.
Monochrome and Colour prints may be home or trade processed. They
must be mounted on firm card not larger than 500mm x 500mm (20"
x 20"). The print size must not be smaller than 35 square inches
(e.g. 7"x 5").
6.
Transparencies may be home or trade processed. They must be correctly
spotted for projection. (a spot on the bottom left hand corner when
viewed in the normal way). For colour transparencies other than
50mm x 50mm (2" x 2") the entrant will be responsible
for supplying suitable projection equipment.
7.
Entries should be handed to the Competition Secretary, accompanied
by an Entry Form bearing the titles of the work and the author’s
name, at the meeting proceeding the competition itself.
8.
If Rule 7 cannot be met, then the author may contact the Competition
Secretary to register his/her entries by the Sunday evening immediately
proceeding the competition evening. Entries made under this rule
will be declared void if not handed to the Competition Secretary
by 7.15pm on the evening of the competition.
9.
Judging. Entries will be judged by a suitably qualified
or experienced person appointed by the committee.
- The
judge will be invited to comment on all entries and select the following
in each section.
- The
best image, 2nd best image and 3rd best image. The judge may also
at their discretion, select work that they consider warrants special
mention and award the selected work
- Commended
Status. Images awarded a “Commended Status” will be
eligible for the “Best of the best” competition.
- Judges
will be made aware of these rules prior to each competition.
- The
judge will be asked to consider the following: - Quality, Presentation,
Technical Competence, Composition, Originality, Impact, Colour Balance,
Overall appeal.
- The
Judge’s decision will be final.
10.
Club Competitions
The
following competitions will take place annually -
Monochrome
Prints
Colour
Prints
Slides
The
Competition Secretary will administer the scheme and award points
to individuals on the following basis:
Best
image 5 points
2nd
best image 4 points
3rd
best image 3 points
Commended
1 point
The
winner of each competition will be the person with the most points.
'Best
of the Best'
All
placed and commended images in the section competitions will be
eligible for the “Best of the Best”
Rule
9 will be applied.
The
Judge, having selected the best 3 images in the 3 sections will
then select the best image to be awarded the “Best of the
Best”.
